Habitat for Humanity Cape Area is driven completely by the force of your generosity and donations.Although financial donations are crucial for us in order to achieve our goals; nothing can replace your time and effort. Your donations whether time or money are responsible for creating an opportunity for individuals, families, and organizations to come together and be a part of granting dreams and hopes of families in need. It is returning a favor for homeowners who were able to change their lives with us by helping families like their own to create a better living. It is a chance to change our community for the better.

Donation Items We Gladly Accept
Appliances - We accept ELECTRIC appliances less than seven years old, except dishwashers; they must be clean and in 100% working order with no missing parts (Please include owner's manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation)
Books/CDs/DVDs/Records
Bed Frames - Complete with all hardware included
Bed Rails – All hardware must be included
Doors - We accept doors in GOOD condition. They must not have holes, cracks, rot, etc.
Electrical - We accept most electrical parts, wires, plugs, plates and the hardware associated with electrical wiring
Flooring material - We accept tile, hardwood, rugs, and vinyl. We will accept only NEW carpet (minimum of 100 sq. ft.)
Furniture - All furniture must be in good condition, no rips, tears or stains.
Hardware - We accept hardware for doors, cabinets, gates, etc.
Kitchen Cabinets & Vanities - Up-to-date and not damaged; they must have doors, shelving, display racks, etc.
Lighting - We accept most light fixtures. We DO NOT ACCEPT fluorescent bulbs and/or fixtures
Lumber • Plywood • Sheetrock • Trim - We accept full and 1/2 sheets of plywood, we accept full lengths of lumber, we will accept trim in smaller pieces but not less than 6-feet long (Please, no rot or nails)
Mattresses - ONLY NEW, STILL IN PLASTIC
Miscellaneous - Domestic/home framed artwork, area rugs, decorative accent items, collectibles, antiques
Office Furniture - We take credenzas, file cabinets and office chairs
Paint - Full cans of WATER BASE PAINT ONLY
Roofing Material - We accept all types of roofing material such as rolled roofing material, metal roofing and full bundles of new shingles
Tubs • Sinks • Toilets - We accept new and claw foot tubs and sinks (no faucets or plumbing) and vanities if they are in good condition and clean. We accept commodes. They must be very clean!!
TVs - Flat screens ONLY
Tools - We accept all hand and power tools in working condition
Windows - We accept DOUBLE PANE windows only, window treatments and draperies
Donation Items We Cannot Accept
Unfortunately, the Habitat for Humanity - Cape Area ReStore cannot accept the following items for donation. Thank you for your understanding.
Appliances that use gas such as gas ovens, ranges and water heaters
Blinds
Countertops (unless the entire cabinet is provided)
Carpet pads
Ceiling fans
Clothing
Used - Dishwashers, faucets, hot water heaters and plumbed-in appliances
Electronic equipment - Computers, VCRs, batteries, or personal care items such as electric razors, electric curlers or curling irons
Exercise equipment
Headboards
Hazardous or highly flammable materials such as oil base paint, varnish, shellac, lacquer, paint thinner, etc.
Infant car seats and infant-related accessories
Items in need of repair
Mattress and box springs (used)
Mirrors and glass without frames
Office partitions, cubicles, desks or other equipment made with particle board
Old lumber and scrap
Storm windows without the window/glass
Televisions before 2010 ie non-flatscreens
Textbooks and technical materials
Partial cans of paint
PVC pipe
Pieces of carpet
Ready to donate
Drop off used or new building materials, furniture, appliances, etc. at our ReStore Donation Center (2365 Rust Ave., Cape Girardeau) or call for pick up service at 573-651-9080. We are happy to provide a donation receipt for tax purposes. By donating to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, you are keeping good, reusable items out of the landfill and helping to build more Habitat homes.
Final approval of all items is at the discretion of the donation pick-up driver and Habitat ReStore staff. Drivers and staff reserve the right to refuse materials based on current inventory and the items condition.
